Day 1

Destination: Arrival to Budapest
Meal plan: Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation in Budapest: 4* Hotel

Welcome at the airport. According to flight times, the transfer to the hotel will be preceded by an orientation tour of the city. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel in Budapest.


Day 2

Destination: Szeged – Timisoara – Arad (approx. 280 km)
Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation in Arad: 4* Hotel

Depart for Romania. Stop in Szeged. Visible from afar, its huge cathedral of brown and white bricks overlooks a large square, the beating heart of the city. Explore, with your tour escort, this lively student town which was almost entirely destroyed by a terrible flood at the end of the 19th century. Continue to Timisoara, known as “Little Vienna”. Guided orientation tour of the city during which you will discover Unity Square, one of the biggest in Romania, and Victory Square, dominated by a huge Romanian Orthodox cathedral. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel in Arad.



Day 3

Destination: Hunedoara – Sibiu (approx. 298 km)

Continue on towards Transylvania, crossing the first foothills of the Carpathians, for a fantastic itinerary. In Hunedoara, you will discover the Gothic castle of the Hunyadi family, which was the residence of the famous king, Mathias Corvin. In the afternoon, continue to Sibiu, a delightful medieval town, where time seems to have stood still. Enjoy a walking tour with a local guide which will give you the chance to admire the numerous Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque style monuments. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel in Sibiu.



Day 4

Destination: Sibiu – Brasov (approx. 140 km)

Accommodation in Brasov: 4* Hotel

Free morning in Sibiu to discover, at your own pace, the rich heritage of a city considered to be one of the best preserved historical cities of Central Europe. Head to Brasov, a mountain resort spread around Mount Timpa. Surrounded by its fortifications, the medieval centre has been wonderfully preserved with the Black Church, a celebrated Gothic monument of Romania, and the 14th century St. Nicholas Church. Dinner and accommodation in the region of Brasov. Optional: Folkloric dinner with traditional dances and music (with extra charge).



Day 5

Destination: Castles of Peles and Bran (approx. 120 km)
Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation in Brasov: 4* Hotel

In the vicinity of Sinaia, visit the elegant Peles Castle. A former royal village constructed in a German Neo-Renaissance style, it boasts one of the finest collections of artwork and armour in Central Europe. Continue on to Bran. Visit Bran Castle, which was part of an ensemble of defensive citadels in the Middle Ages and built on a steep rock in the romantic landscape. According to the legend, this was the residence of Vlad Tepes, a terrible prince, called “the Impaler“, who inspired the writer Bram Stoker to invent the character of Count Dracula. This myth gives a particular charm to your visit of this labyrinthine castle. Return to the hotel in the region of Brasov for dinner and accommodation.



Day 6

Destination: Sighisoara and Biertan – Cluj Napoca (approx. 310 km)

Accommodation in Cluj Napoca: 4* Hotel

Depart for Sighisoara, the ‘pearl’ of Transylvania which was founded by artisans and merchants, called the Saxons of Transylvania. Clinging to a hill, it shows all the characteristics of a little fortified medieval city. Remarkably preserved, it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Guided tour of the historical centre, dominated by the clock tower. Continue on to Biertan, with a visit to Romania´s most beautiful fortified church, before returning to Cluj Napoca. Dinner and accommodation in the hotel in Cluj Napoca.



Day 7

Destination: Cluj Napoca – Oradea – Budapest (approx. 460 km)
Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation in Budapest: 4* Hotel

Depart for the eastern Carpathians where the rural and Sylvan traditions are still alive. The road meanders through the beautiful hilly landscapes of the Apuseni mountains before a stop at Oradea. Arrival in Hungary is expected in the late afternoon. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel in Budapest. Optional: Cruise on the Danube to admire the illuminated monuments. (with extra charge).



Day 8

Destination: Departure from Budapest
Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
No accommodation

Transfer to the airport in Budapest according to flight times.
